Wild Chukar, Hungarian Partridge and Quail

Wild birds in their own country: chukar on the rock and cheatgrass slopes, Hungarian partridge on the edges of the wheat and bunchgrass, and quail in the creek bottoms.

These are native and naturalized birds hunted under Oregon's seasons and bag limits, not preserve birds. Expect steep walking and long days; a good dog makes the hunt.

How it runs

• Guided days on private ground, or with your own dogs by arrangement
• Season follows the state upland season, roughly October into January

Good to know

• Wear boots with real ankle support; chukar country is steep and loose.
• State bag limits apply.
